Our
Trustee Board

The Trustee Board at 9th Orpington Air Scouts is a team of volunteers who work together to ensure that the Group is well-managed, financially sound, and operating in line with both legal requirements and the values of The Scout Association.

An effective Trustee Board helps our volunteers deliver fantastic programmes that give young people skills for life and maximises the Group's potential to make a positive impact on its young members.

Without a strong Trustee Board, our Scout Group couldn’t function. Trustees ensure we remain a safe, inclusive, and inspiring place for young people to learn skills for life.

What Does the Trustee Board Do?

The Trustee Board is responsible for:

  • Governance and Oversight: Ensuring the Group complies with relevant laws and Scout Association policies (including in relation to the Group's status as a charity, health & safety, safeguarding and data protection).

  • Financial Management: Overseeing budgets, approving expenditure and ensuring funds are used effectively to support Scouting activities.

  • Risk Management: Identifying and managing risks to the Group’s operations.

  • Strategic Support: Helping set the direction of the group and supporting the Group leaders in delivering high-quality programmes for young people.

  • Asset Management: Looking after property, equipment and other assets owned or used by the group.
